Inside Bamboo Loans: a day in the life of Spike Sealey, Loyalty Executive
Hi Spike, tell us a bit about yourself, what do you do?
Hi! I’m part of the loyalty team at Bamboo, assisting returning and existing customers with enquiries as well as advising and guiding them through their customer journey. I always try to find the best options for each person. We deal with top-up enquiries and applications, repeat customer applications and management of existing accounts.
Why did you decide to work for Bamboo, and what are your working hours?
A fast expanding company like Bamboo with such a close knit and family style team ethos is always an attractive job. Progression opportunities as well as the friendly community feel the company offers to an employee, helped get me here and keep me on. It is also important for me to feel that I am genuinely helping people in what I do; being able to help customers with wedding expenses for example, provides a level of contentment that money just cannot buy! I work a range of shifts between 8am and 8pm, but I’m partial to an evening shift…
What was your background before you joined Bamboo?
Before joining Bamboo I had been studying Digital Music at university and running events throughout Southampton and then the rest of the country, whilst working a range of roles in the hospitality industry. I bring my positive customer facing attitude from hospitality to customer service, always aiming for people to leave happier than when they arrived.
What are you currently working on?
Currently, I’m making sure that all of our policies are fit for purpose so that we can provide the smoothest customer journey possible. We don’t want to leave anyone hanging! I’m also working on my career progression within the business.
What is your favourite part about working with Bamboo?
My favourite aspect is the customer relationships we build as well as the close relationship we hold with each other, as Bamboo colleagues.
Any favourite projects you’ve worked on?
I am currently in my favourite project as yet at Bamboo — the loyalty team. Being able to assist returning customers is a pleasure and for me, provides a new and deeper aspect to customer relationship building and making sure they have the best service and options available.
Outside of the office, how do you spend your free time?
I keep busy with running events, playing music, and cooking, which I love to do. Never a moment free, never a moment bored!
What would you say to people about Bamboo?
That WE ARE HERE TO HELP! That I love working here, and that Bamboo is the best work environment I have ever experienced.
What are your top tips for being successful at work?
Keep busy! Keep doing things to make yourself better! And never give up chasing more!
A day in the life of Spike: Tell us your daily routine
8:00 a.m. Have breakfast and catch up with daily news, look at the projects of the day and get going with customer service
9:00 a.m. Have a coffee and get on the line with my customers for assistance
10:00 a.m. Catch up with the team leader about the previous day, team performance and personal performance
1:00 p.m. Grab lunch at a local coffee house, or if I’m feeling cheap, grab a sandwich and chill out in the break out area.
5:00pm Clock off and get home to cook dinner, relax, and plan more events!
